shareI think he knew something wasn't right about her but couldn't quite figure out what it was. Near the end of the movie he says "I remembered what I wanted to ask you...where are you from?" He was trying to find out her history and of course, she doesn't answer him which, along with him finding the money in the closet, proved to him that she wasn't who she said she was and that she was just using him.
