it was just a meaningless message. it was never really explained. we found out at the end who had written the message.

shareIt doesnt matter. The movie doesnt make sense. I love Fargo and other offbeat Coen Bros. movies, even David Lynch who is obscure. But they deliver despite the complications. I cant find another poster who feels the same way I do...I dont get the movie.
The "Wichita" reference is probably same as Lynch's mystery box in Mulholland Drive. But MD is so well made, I dont think IH deserves a conversation piece,or whatever you call it, like that.
The casting is there, even the Ramis factor is there, but even they couldnt save this movie.
I dont understand why some posters even liked this movie.
It means that things are all connected. There is an odd and often obscure cause and effect relationship at work in the noir universe.

If you want irony, characters in the movie had opposing reactions to the Wichita Falls graffiti. Just as different viewers loved or hated this film.
shareSeems like that saying would've made more sense or had more relevance to the storyline if the movie would have been set in Witchita Falls, Texas, not Witchita, Kansas.
shareIt's not clear to me that this is the origin, but it seems to refer to the 1981 Pat Metheny album, "As Falls Wichita, so Falls Wichita Falls". The following link mentions that the phrase comes from Steve Swallow, a jazz bassist who has appeared on many Pat Metheny projects, though not that one. The page also mentions that the phrase in this film differs slightly.
Still, on that page and on many others googled, it seems that nobody claims to know the meaning of it, so I'm going to go with a previous poster on this board and say that it means that all things are connected.
