Truly one of the most underrated movies of modern time!

I seriously liked this one and even though the plot isn't the most original one, this movie does deliver in a major way. The acting is very good, especially by Cusack and Thornton. Then the whole scenery is perfect, the lighting, the editing and of course what it's all about, the seriously well written dialogs. I recommend this movie to everybody who likes and understands good movie making.

I have to agree as well. I guess I can't really put my finger on why I did like the movie as much as I did, but there is just something about it. The acting was very well done and the dialogue was funny in a sort of underhanded, ironic way. It was also a more honest view of how the holidays can be. I definitely think more people should give this movie a chance.

I finally got the chance to see this one, after I unexpectedly came across it at my library. This movie was so different and amazing. There was something about it that made me absolutely love it. I can't believe it has such a low rating.

reply

yeah, it was one of the best films of the year. critics have really fallen off in this country.

reply

And not only the critics, but the people who consider themselves "godsend" to right the wrongs of the underdog cinema (which is, and will be for ever and ever, the best Hollywood has to offer), that is people who have no film education whatsoever /not even the do-it-yourself education.

They know who they are, and they're the main reason why underdogs remain underdogs. Btw, Ice Harvest enjoys quite a cult following in Europe, and European critics absolutely loved it, almost as much as I have.

You don't often see a movie that sneaks up to you, and has charisma to boot. Kudos to Ramis!

OP said, "Truly one of the most underrated movies of modern time!"

i think that goes to "Mission Impossible 2"... cause that to me is one of the most underrated films on IMDB since 2000 to date. i think it's the best of the MI series.... is it the hate for John Woo?, or the slow motion effects? as to why it's hated... i dont know, but it's MUCH better than it's 5.7/10 (70K+ votes) rating claims it is... but sales wise it was easily the most successful MI to date.

p.s. i have not seen this film (The Ice Harvest) so i cant comment on it.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I always root for underdog cinema, but I didn't like The Ice Harvest very much. The characters were hardly interesting and the story was kind of dull. I DID however really enjoy the acting, the photography, the atmosphere, etc. Story and writing were just....off for me personally.

I might give it a second chance though, seeing as how it's developed a following!

I agree!

reply

Yeah agreed, it's a great movie, criminally underrated. Oliver Platt steals the show tho
