it's definitely his best film as Lord of War (10/10) is one of my top top films in general out of the 1450+ total films i have seen.

although putting great aside (i.e. 9/10 or 10/10), which this is. he's still at least had films i liked which are...

-Next (2007) - 7 (i have seen this more than a handful of times)
-National Treasure 2 (2007) - 7
-Bangkok Dangerous (2008) - 7
-Knowing (2009) - 8 (somewhere between my 2nd-4th favorite film of 2009)
-Kick-Ass (2010) - 8 (my 2nd favorite film of 2010)
-Drive Angry (2011) - 7

but out of those the most memorable since Lord of War... Kick-Ass/Knowing pretty much

p.s. Lord of War also has one of the most memorable soundtracks to. (i.e. http://goo.gl/lSkaW ;) (FIXED as of June 15th))

Thanks. it's nice to know my comments are appreciated from time to time ;)

especially when there is a near constant flow of negative comments around IMDb (hell, the internet in general. lol) as i am sure your well aware of.

I'd have given this movie a 10 if it wasn't 4 Cage's weak performance. He's much better than this. I can't say it was the director who couldn't get the best off him. I mean Jared Leto was outstanding. Even Eamonn Walker did great.
Here r some examples of specific points in which he just couldn't pull it off:
-When he goes "this is 5h1t! This is 5h1t!". He tries to push some kind of Russian accent. WTF for? He already speaks a spotlessly shining English.
-When he grins at Ethan Hawke while on the Kristol. He has to fake the grin but he does it soo badly.

what you said against him seems like mostly nit picking when looking at the quality of film as a whole and Cage overall performance.

Cage was easily more positive than negative to say the least in Lord of War.

but at least we are in agreement with Jared Leto/Eamonn Walker and the rest of the cast in general for that matter ;)

I thought Nicholas Cage was great in the Bad Lieutenant remake/reboot and Kickass. However, I've never been a big fan of Cage and never will be for the simple fact that he doesn't really play the character that he was cast as, he just plays Nicholas Cage and always acts the same. It usually doesn't bother me but it really bothered me in this movie because he was one of the most unconvincing Ukranians I've ever seen, there was no Ukranian in his character at all, just Nicholas Cage with an Eastern European name being good old Nicholas Cage. It's like Nicholas Cage doesn't adapt to his character or transform into a character like Johnny Depp or Heath Ledger always did. He just makes his character into Nicholas Cage, kind of like how Joe Pesci is always Joe Pesci... except that Joe Pesci as a character is nowhere near as bland and boring as Nicholas Cage is.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

What about Bad Lieutenant Port of Call New Orleans, that was good, Kick ass was fun, and so was Drive Angry if you like Grind-house films, and I personally like Spirit of Vengeance.

HI *beep* YA
Nicholas Cage Deadfall

Kick ass was pretty good, but Cage was not the main character. I think other than Adaptation, 60 Sec, Family Man, and Matchstick Man got some great performances. I started to like Cage because of those films. His recent work kind of lost the edge a little bit.
