You will spend the next 10 years going from jail cell to court room

before you even start your sentence. I love that line! Hit me hard.

the film is a masterpiece as i have seen over 1450+ films and there is not a single film out there that i could CLEARLY choose over this. so while i am not saying it's my #1 film ever (as there is many great films out there), it's surely in the running for it because if i where to compare, "Lord of War vs *insert film here*"... it will be either roughly tied or i would just straight up pick Lord of War.

but anyways... it's got quite a few memorable scenes in it and a solid ending etc etc. it's a crime this film is not in IMDb's Top 250 as it wipes the floor with most of those quite easily.

it's definitely Nicolas Cage's best film and he's had quite a few solid films in his career to.

it's also my favorite Andrew Niccol film out of the 4 he's done which are...

-Gattaca (1997) - 8/10 (somewhere between my 4th-6th favorite film of 1997. also, named most plausible Sci-Fi film by NASA to)

-S1m0ne (2002) - 8/10 (i think this is underrated. my 4th favorite film of 2002)

-Lord of War (2005) - 10/10 (obviously my #1 film of 2005)

-In Time (2011) - 8/10 (either my 2nd or 3rd favorite film of 2011 out of the 78 total films i have seen for 2011 so far)

Niccol makes memorable films at the end of the day.

p.s. i personally think Niccol beats more popular directors around IMDb like Aronofsky/Fincher/Nolan. i would take all four of Niccol's films over anything Aronofsky/Fincher did. as far as Nolan... his two most memorable are The Dark Knight/The Prestige but even those are below Lord of War for sure and while i might give The Dark Knight the slight edge over Niccol's other films i think if you removed The Joker from The Dark Knight odds are i would take all of Niccol's films over it. but Gattaca/S1m0ne/In Time would be roughly tied with The Prestige.

I can tell you are very passionate about this film. You sound like me when I am talking about "Heat" lol. As for your comment on The Dark Knight, i completely agree. Take out the Joker and you are left with a average film. Lord Of War is a great film and I need to watch it again but my fav Nic Cage performance would have to be Bad Lieutenant.

i am a big fan of Heat to ;) (Heat is my #1 film of 1995 and off the top of my head i would say is in my Top 50 films ever out of the 1500+ total films i have seen. it's probably higher as that 'Top 50' is more of a conservative estimate.)

Heat (10/10) and Collateral (9/10) are Michael Mann's most memorable films.

and speaking of Heat... 'The Town' (2010) (8/10, my 5th favorite film of 2010) is pretty much the best film of that type of genre since Heat. hell, in the extended cut of the film it briefly shows Heat (1995) playing on the TV Ben Affleck's character is watching ;)

As for your comment on The Dark Knight, i completely agree. Take out the Joker and you are left with a average film.

i would not say it's average without The Joker (Ledger), as it's still comfortably above average even without The Joker, it's just without The Joker it loses a noticeable amount of it's spark.

but basically i would say The Dark Knight as is is a 8.5-9/10. remove The Joker and your looking at about a 7.5-8/10 for me like the 2005 Batman Begins film is. which is still comfortably above average to say the least.

Lord Of War is a great film and I need to watch it again but my fav Nic Cage performance would have to be Bad Lieutenant.

his performance was not bad in that film but the film as a whole itself got a Thumbs Down from me. i gave it a 6/10.

in general for me... 6/10 or less = Thumbs Down. 7/10 or higher = Thumbs Up.

That line is ridiculous because those 10 years he spent in jail during trial would be subtracted from his sentence, if found guilty.

I swear they don't do that and that time is just trial time because your sentence hasn't started yet.
