Why is Ryu 'Hayabusa'???

I mean, everyone else is referred to by their first name: Christie, Helena, Max, Zack, etc.

What makes Ryu so special?

Also, WTF is he doing without his signature ninja suit and mask?

reply

he is of Japanese descent isnt he?

sometimes they refer to people as thier last name in japan (if im not mistaken)

"gee dont take it so personally"
"I AM A PERSON, HOW ELSE AM I SUPPOSE TO TAKE IT?"

reply

He wasn't speaking Japanese nor interacting with fellow Japanese. In fact, even when they were in the Hayabusa village, they spoke English!!!

Why would they just single him out and call him by his last name for no reason whatsoever? I mean, Ayane is a first name isn't it?

It just doesn't make any sense!!! This is MADNESS!!!

reply

It makes perfect sense, actually. If you're familar with other fighting games, there already is a series with a character named Ryu: the Street Fighter series. For copyright reasons and whatnot, they have to make it different so he's called Hayabusa in the games.

I dunno, maybe it's because that's what he is called in the DOA games. Duh.
