The thing that really bothers me about this movie...(maybe spoilers?)

It wasn't the BEST movie I have seen, but it was alright. The thing that I just can't get over though is near the end they are still in Detroit but then they crawl in some sewers and some how end up in a thick forest??? Where are there forest like that, I live 30 minutes out of Detroit and forest aren't even that thick by my house. And then at the end they pan up from the forest and the Detroit skyline is RIGHT there and obviously green screened in. Anyone else noticed this? Maybe it's just because I'm familiar with Detroit and they didn't expect anyone to realize.

I've never spent time in Detroit short of flying through the airport, and the first thing I said was "Where the hell did the forest come from?!" I thought that was all kinds of bad scenery planning. Like there's not enough abandoned warehouses, landfills, junkyards, etc. there that they couldn't have found somewhere else a little more realistic to play out that final scene?

But that's Problem #1 with Hollywood lately, innit? They just hope that the public will keep paying for the tickets and everything else be damned.

We've got the 'Ratings' system where each picture is evaluated for how shocking -- morally or psychologically -- it might be for different age groups in society. I would like to see MENSA or somebody establish a committee to review each film and give it an 'intelligence rating', for how STUPID you have to be to _not_ be offended by the absurd tricks they pull in furtherance of strained or ridiculous plot lines.

I would also seriously enjoy seeing an action/adventure/drama picture once in a while where the ending wasn't 100% predictable after the first 15 minutes. It's already 1999 since, for example, Mark Pellington's wonderful 'Arlington Road'.

cheers,

Henry

Maybe the forest was thought to be symbolic - they return from the "jungle" of civilization (the symbols of which - industry, police - are portrayed of just as brutal and hopeless) into the real woods, where in my opinion the whole story comes out in an allegorical way.

There are some forest-like areas in the Southfield / Livonia / Novi area, which aren't too far away. But they're not like, huge pine forests, just little wooded areas.

I'm so sorry.

My mule don't like people laughing. Gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.

another thing that botherd me was the.... cold... or lack of it.
the cops in the precinct have the windows shot out of the bulding, the power out, etc, with wind and snow blowing in, they run arond the snow and woods, and not once do u see any one shiver or complain of being cold

I've never been to Detroit. Closest I've been is Vanvouver.

But what about parks? I thought it was a park. Do you have gardens etc? As a person alien to Detroit - I was thinking 'park' so didn't have a problem. Having said that I am always surprised when they do things that are impossible geographically. The funniest one was the Mission:Impossible set in Sydney. Our heroes base is in the middle of the desert. Sydney would be closer to New Zealand than desert like that :). Maybe not quite, but it seemed stupid to put that scene in, so I can sympathise with your complaint.
