I was dissapointed in Maria Bello's wierd interpretation of her role as doctor. She didn't seem to settle into her character at all. Her energy was all over the place and she wasn't focused. She should have just phoned in her performance...

Yes, totally terrible, ALL the people in it except Brian D. are totally uncool. The whole movie is just "dreck". Semper fidelis ?? Haha!

yep, like in the original, someone totally unknown with charisma and coolness, but this would only have helped a little, because the script of the re-make is also aweful. The orig. followed the rule "keep it simple", which is always good for actioneers and thrillers. The re-make ignored that.

It was the casting of the damned. I have never seen so many bad performances in one movie. Except for Laurence Fishburne. He was cool.

Really, every movie with Ja Rule in a role is poor casting...the guy can just be walking by a movie and ruin it...

Maybe Ethan Hawke seemed too young to be a jaded cop.

For what it was, an action thriller, I didn't have any major problems with the casting or performances of the actors.

AoP13 wasnt made to be better than Heat(1995) or The Departed (2006 or so), just a loud action cop movie! I thought the casting was appropriate, with yet another performance from E Hawke as a hard edged cop, L Fish as a fierce-type guy, and John Leg as a fast talking wiseass. Anyway. The cast in my mind worked fine. At least none of the newer crop of 20-somethings were used just to give AoP13 a trendy, hip feel. Like all of the actors are around 40, and Brian Denheny who is like 70 (and still a cop?). But I enjoyed the movie.

Remember he was retiring?

The plot and dialogue is so cliche(Even though the idea of cops and criminals being forced to work together is pretty sweet)that a cast with Eric Roberts,Jake and Gary Busey and Ving Rhames only would make it worse. Ethan Hawke as a burned out cop against the great Gabriel Byrne with support of a Maria Bello who despite annoying, acted like most women(and some men)would in that situation,John Leguizamo can play that role in his sleep but still did it good.

Ja Rule is always bad,Dennehy so-so and Fishburne being so cool the snow outside turned to ice might´ve been too much but other then that, the actors and cinematography is what made this film worth watching.Having famous AND gifted actors in an actionfilm is what made it fresh. No other reason to see this one.Wonder what good casting would be...
