WHY They Didnt go in all at once

maybe this can clarify it for some of you
1.duvall is trying to keep his men alive thats why hes doing it in the first place
2.roenick has positional and tactical advantage
3.the more of his men that are killed the harder it is to cover it up
4.he has no idea how many people are in the precinct
it could be 1 guy with a pistol or 20 with rocket launchers

and obviously he doesnt bring in the helicopter at the beginning because its not like he can just ask for it

This was a great action flick and it doesn't have to always make sense.Look at Die Hard,Leathal Weapon and 48 Hours did they always make sense of course not but still fun to watch

all of those movies make perfect sense, unless you're brain damaged.

EAT MORE COPS

It's an entertaining movie but I have to admit that was some extremely poor tactics used. There must of been like 20 cops in full SWAT gear. Here's what they should of done. Setup 4 teams of 5. 2 teams will assault from the front, 2 from the back and one from above. Gas and flashbang before entering to cause total chaos and confusion. Enter quickly with one team covering the other and eliminate all threats.

Of course, if they did this it would be a 30 minute movie.

Agreed, I don't know why they didn't use smoke grenades from the start. Not to mention that no one thought of just blowing the place up and setting it on fire. The fire brigade wouldn't be able to get there fast enough in that storm anyway.

Then again, it's an action flick for a reason. (although I was surprised by the ease with which the director killed off the main characters.

That's it man...
Game over man! It's game over!

Well it would've been rather hard to explain how/who blew the whole place up, whereas if they were simply shot then it could be blamed on Bishop's men.

We call this the Loom of Fate.

Mess of a movie, though entertaining, I'll give it that. Towards the end I couldn't help but think how Duvall was gonna explain it all, had he won, showing up next morning to work with 90% of his men dead.

A picture with a smile - and perhaps, a tear.

Quite simple. You wouldn't have a movie then. This is one of those leave-your-brain-at-the-door films.
