Realistic? 2

With a large-scale drama such as this, of course you need a lot of people coming and going in the background to make it look 'realistic'. It's unfortunate, however, that -- if the producers want to make such a programme -- they seemingly can't afford to do it right. Extras are comparatively cheap to employ, but when a character speaks, the actor becomes considerably more expensive. It's just penny-pinching (and pound-foolishness) that gives us scene after ludicrous scene where someone who _should_ say something (and in real life certainly would!) instead just stands, sits or lies there mute. Very disappointing.
