good christ this movie sucked

how can a movie with so many funny people in it be so predictable and mundane???? there were a few funny parts, but good god, most of it was just godawful

reply

I completely and full-heartedly agree! I had a friend who really liked this movie and said it was really funny, and then I sat there silent and straight faced the whole movie praying it would end soon. I didn't even laugh once. I generally don't like sports movies, and this movie certainly will not encourage me to see another one soon. Ugh.

mr_x350, I don't know if you have seen the original where Burt Reynolds plays Paul Crewe, but its so much better than this piece of crap!

what the *beep* are up all your arses lighten up i enjoyed the movie

The lame brains in Hollywood thought people would laugh and like this movie. Well, the lesser-intelligent people of course love a movie like this!!

reply

Intelligence has nothing to do with it. This was a football movie, if you like football or other football movies (not Rudy although good not a typical football movie) you will like and enjoy this movie. I loved it, half of you haters out there openly admit you don't like sports movies and then complain that you wasted your money on this. Go back to the Crying Game and leave this movie for the audience it was intended for. Simple humor, hard hits, and competitive sports while not extremely intellectually stimulating can be and is in this picture very entertaining.

Thank you for wasting 20 seconds of my life reading your rant about why you like this and other non-intelligent films.

reply

judging from the fact that you were reading messages on the IMDB board for a football movie when you apperently don't like sports at all, you had the time to waste. Your Welcome.

I like playing sports and PARTICIPATING in sports. I am not a lazy WATCHER of sports. Sports fans usually have useless, boring lives.

So you don't like my comment so you just get it deleted? What was so abusive about the comment I left that you felt the need to hit the report abuse button?

I still want to know why you watched The Longest Yard if you don't even like watching football? And how playing sports has made your life more useful and exciting?

Let's try discussing this instead of resorting to censorship and changing of the subject.

I thought it sucked too. The gags were forced, and most backfired. The story was weak, which surprised me, because they were working from the original -- which was great. The tone was off. Prison seemed fun in that place. They had the run of the joint. In the original, Bert Reynolds had it tough. It looked like a *beep* place to be. And when that one guy died, it was sad. In this version, I laughed. It was hokey and stupid.

The whole movie was stupid. I'm guessing the average I.Q. of the people that liked it was well under 100. Not judging, by the way, just a guess.

I don't like Football, but loved "Remember the Titans", and "The Replacements". Some movies are just better than others. This was a lame remake.

Yes. I groaned more often than I chuckled. This film was a cliche parade. When I saw Rob Schneider saying "You Can Do It!" for what seemed like the 11th time in a Sandler movie, I just ran away to the nearest corner and wept.

this is comedy dude, and by adam sandler. of course it's gonna be predictable. of course they're gonna win. it's freakin sports comedy. where have you been?

reply

I loved this movie! It was epic.
People have different senses of humour, doesnt make it a bad movie just because you diddnt find it funny.
Loads of people enjoyed it. (:
