huge plothole

He left his fingerprints EVERYWHERE! No way he'd actually get away with it.

Charlie tried to wipe them off, but yeah I'm sure plenty remained.

Is it a plothole, really? I"m sure the detective who was a friend of Winston and who realized Chuck's involvement did what was necessary to protect Chuck so he could get away as a favor for getting vengeance against Winston's killer.

The fact that Winston was a criminal and, according to the detective, the law didn't care for him ..suggests that police wouldn't care about doing too much to find his killer.

As for the shootout at the hotel. He did try to wipe off his fingerprints. But the police who responded to the shootout at the hotel jumped to conclusions without even waiting for forensics. But that's secondary; the fact that Chuck had a high ranking detective on his side helped. That's certainly why he wasn't charged with killing LaRouche in the laundry room. (Plus, prisoners get shanked regularly and no one cares).
