The Bag with the Money [Spoilers May Be!]

I dont know if I missed something or not, but I really dont know how he knew at th near end of the movie, that his bag with the money is at the Hotel' safe? Or in other words, how come it is at the Hotel's safe?

"It's Pacino. It's enough. At the very least...he'll craft a word or line of dialogue"

The desk clerk was clearly in on it, we can see that when he gets slipped some money by the "security guy" after Lucinda checks in with that last guy. It seems like it's where they do their business, and I guess they feel like a large sum of cash is safer there in the safe than at an apartment. Maybe a safety deposit box, but trying to deposit that kind of cash into a bank account would definitely attract attention.

And that desk clerk was clearly irked when Schine claims the satchel with his name on it, right in front of all those policemen. I bet that clerk had heard about all those dead bodies up stairs, and was thinking he was about to come into a serious pay day.

This is another huge plot hole. Yes, we know that the hotel clerk was part of the scam, and it's not altogether unlikely that Frenchie would hide the money there. But everything else was just so idiotic, namely:

1. Why would Charlie put the 100 in his nice and expensive leather bag, a gift from his wife? A plain paper bag would have sufficed.

2. Why would Charlie give the bad guys a bag with his name tag? Does he want to stay in touch with Frenchie? Why include the tag with the inscription "If found, return to..."

3. Even if we are willing to accept that Frenchie hid the big bucks at the hotel, what are the odds that the cops are examining all the bags at the exact same time that Charlie is leaving the hotel and walking past the reception?

4. Ill-gotten money is a hot potato; crooks usually split it and spend it right away. "Easy come, easy goes" they say. That Frenchie wouldn't have touched the loot for so long is highly unrealistic.

What an idiotic plot!!

Of course, the number one, huge plot hole is the fact that Charlie Schine didn't call the cops the minute Frenchie tried to blackmail him for the first time.

The bag Charlie picked up at the end wasn't the bag he gave LaRoche with the $100K. It was the bag he gave them with the $20K. It was a standard tan bag that he used for the $100K. So what they idiots just happened to transfer the $100K into the original bag as an accounting system?? I liked the movie and was happy that he got however much money back but that part was a major screw up.
