I won't point out what others already have (hello, wouldn't Charles have known LaRoche wasn't dead at the scene?), but tell me this, as I haven't seen anyone comment on this part; the mail clerk has $100 on the line to name some baseball players. He has at least a day to do this, and it's obvious this isn't the first bet he has going with the detective, as evidenced by Charles and the clerk chatting how the clerk always comes to Charles for the answers......
It's 2004. Any trivia info would have even then been available by searching the 'net.
So who's dumber; the detective who will pay $100 for trivia easily looked up or the mail clerk, who doesn't look it up?
