the music almost steals from Lord of the Rings

I'm talking about this movie's score (by John Williams)....I listened to a "John Williams tribute" on YouTube, and when I heard the Geisha sample, I noticed that its theme almost follows an exact theme from Lord of the Rings (by Howard Shore).

I can believe that it's just a coincidence. But I always get a giggle out of it.

Which theme are you talking about? I like both soundtracks and can't think of any glaring similarities between them, but I'd be interested to know.

Howard Shore and John Williams inspiration for both scores are nothing alike! and I avidly listen to both and can find nothing similar, could you explain?

The music for Memoirs of a Geisha is so much better than for LOTR. The latter is my favorite, but one soundtrack has Yo-Yo Ma and Izthak Perlman and the other doesn't. And therein lies all the difference.

You must be even more tone deaf than my dad is. I know both scores by heart, I play some of it on the violin and I can't hear any resemblance, let alone anything that would come remotely close to "stealing".

The theme itself is very similar but the orchestration around it is completely different.
