zhang ziyi deserved to have an oscar nomination, so unfair. i mean the baftas nominated her, the golden globes nominated her, and the sags nominated her. im sick of the oscars ignoring good asian preformances

GONG LI should have gotten the Oscar nom! She was the best thing about the film. Lots of critics predicted supporting but it did not happen because of the movies lousy reviews which derailed the Oscar campaigns.

seriously??? what i meaant was that ziyi got every other major award nomination, but not the oscars, gong li was extremely good as well

i loved reese witherspoon and rachel weisz but the actresses in memoirs was just as good and should be acknowledged so

As much as I like Reese Witherspoon, I thought that Zhang Ziyi was much better by far.

Nobody gives a damn about Oscars. The latest Oscar winners are good proof why!

The film, in general, was definitely Oscar worthy but the Academy has a history of sometimes snubbing those films they should be praising. Geisha remains, to me, one of the most romantic of films without the trappings of sex!
