Heck no. And very few girls in Japan choose to pursue it either, which is why it's a dying part of their culture.
I watched a program on it - it's years of study and then when you do become a maiko/geisha you work all but two days of the month and ALL your money goes to the Okiya. It's a very restrictive life.
