What made Sayuri a good geisha?
She was pretty, and talented, but really that much more so than the others? Was Mameha a superior big sister? Was she lucky? Were her eyes just that enchanting?

sharePretty, young, those eyes and her personality I'm guessing.

My very randomness astounds people!
What made Sayuri a good geisha?
It was more of a combination of all those things along with incredible determination. Being a Geisha was her way to get to the Chairman, the only chance she would even have.
One reason she was so well-known so soon was because she was trained by Mameha, who was the most sought-after geisha in the district, even more than Hatsumomo.
Don't forget that she was used in an international ad enticing foreigners to visit Japan. Really the stars simply aligned for her. Everything just fell in to place.
