I never really caught how interesting the second half of the movie is from Pumpkin's point of view when you know what she ends up doing to Sayuri.

For example, when she apologizes, Pumpkin seems like she forgives but really brilliantly dances around never actually saying "I forgive you".

I can't really blame her for being angry but I can't forgive what she does for revenge.

Sayuri never actively did anything to "steal" the house from under her. She was just better.
