Six Seasons - Too Short?

I watched both Hiccups & Dan For Mayor, which had Corner Gas writers, and there were a lot of ideas in both shows that would have worked fine on Corner Gas for a Season 7 and possibly 8.

Brent Butt probably pulled the plug too soon but, as creator, that was his call.

yeah I wish it was still on the air, I still havent watched any of the last season yet I had kinda completely forgotten about the show.

Channel Six News, they'll finger anything with a pulse!

I could never forget about this show :)

I'm a states fan who discovered it through WGN. Season 6 was as strong as the rest, totally loved the finale.

Really liked Dan For Mayor, the fact that he was still a bit "Hankish" was great.

I've seen the first handful of episodes of Hiccups. That's the show I keep forgetting about, but need to return to.

Fred Ewanuick was also in Robson Arms, but I didn't see him in the first couple episodes. That really didn't click with me when I watched it, maybe give it another go one day.

I'd say it was just about the ideal time to walk away before the charm of CG became tarnished. I've re-watched the entire series a couple of times and, as long as you let it rest a bit between times, it stands up to repeated viewing.

Dog River had a touch of Brigadoon about it. It needed to remain slightly fairy-tale and self-contained from the ugly realities of the rest of the global village.

Dan For Mayor seemed slightly better at capturing a similar charm than Hiccups did as I recall. There was too much of The Big Network Hand at work in Hiccups for my taste. I never paid full attention to a complete Dan For Mayor episode but it seemed to preserve the Hank-like qualities from the old series. Brent Butt's role in Hiccups just seemed totally forced.

In any case, it was nice that they left CG while it was still entertaining and unspoiled. The Movie was a nice tip of the cap for fans and came at the right time.

Eeek!!! I'm getting dressed.

I think it might have been too soon. But it's probably better to pull the plug too soon than let it go on too long.

This way we'll always have fond memories.
