great mystery and scares. The action during the last 15 minutes or so is intense. It ends with a twist no one could see coming. The lead actress is actually smart and doesn't really do anything really stupid. One of my top favorite movies of all time.

She basically got her self caught in the circle because thinking she was an expert at hoodoo, she used the wrong spell....I'd call that not only stupid, but PRETTY DAMNED STUPID. AND Jill kept warning her not to fck with the hoodoo because she knew nothign about it.

The character made the best decision she could using the knowledge she had at the time. It may look stupid when you know the full story, but she didn't make a stupid move.

Saw it in the movies. and loved it. it reminded me of those 60's flicks that weren't overly violent or "sexed" up, but had more suspense than you can imagine. truly had me on the edge of my seat...the last movie to do that is when i saw Speed in it's initial run.

I honestly don't even think of this as a horror movie. More of a thriller to me.
shareThe movie is trying to be scary so it is a horror movie and thats what its also marketed as and called everywhere.
Its a good Movie but i dont like unhappy endings where the evil wins so that kinda ruined things for me.
Im a huge fan of horror Movies and horror stuff in general but i hate that so many horror Movies must get unhappy endings so often.
I thought it was great too and was totally surprised by the ending.
shareIt's not a horror film. It just seems like one - it was more of a mystery. Notice how all the spookiness in the house in the environment ended as soon as (spoiler) Cecil got her body. Everything was just for show, it was like an intense ruse to manipulate both the main character and the audience. These were body snatchers putting on a show to confuse, manipulate and encourage their victim to walk into their trap. Even the creepy blind woman was probably in on it as one of their associates.
