Ashley, annoying subtle sex symbol

This is one of my favorite games for the Playstation 2, so I've played through it pretty often.
The addition of Ashley makes for a different game experience than any other I've played. Actually I haven't played another game like this one, where I had to protect a character the majority of the game. But I think the developers realized that this, while an interesting new aspect, may prove to be frustrating as well. So, in unique Japanese fashion I think they included the little sexual tidbits to help make her less annoying.
First, while it is annoying that she can't climb down ladders herself, it also give a little panty peek every time, which is actually a cultural aspect of Japan called panchira (sp?). The little joke about how she calls the player a pervert if you try to look up when she's above you. The word hentai can be loosely translated as pervert or perverted. Then there's some of her questionable lines like when she first sees Leon and tells him, "Don't come!" (which I still laugh at every time) Or the scene where she gets the Plagas removed, which, of course, sounds more like she's approaching orgasm than in pain.
I always find Ashley an amusing, if sometimes annoying character, but I think the game designers definately made a unique experience playing the game with her.

I know what you mean. She's annoying but the Japanese fan service made her tolerable. I especially like Luis' line when he first meets her:
"I see that the president's equipped his daughter with BALLISTICS too."

I still don't get why Leon turns down her offer though. He went through hell trying to get the girl home alive with literally an army of monsters to battle and he doesn't even get some um...overtime? I understand that maybe she's too young for him (or not his type) but even Hunnigan turns him down. Poor guy, total badass but I guess Luis overestimated his charm with the ladies

Leon should take one for the team...you know, in honor of Luis.
