Stop hatin' on Fat Albert

Please judge this movie for what it is- a KIDS movie. As a school teacher I admired the film for expressing values and morals. As a black man, it was good to see blacks and whites cooperating and socializing together. In addition I was glad to see black kids being "the good guys." As a Philadelphian, it was good to see our city look clean (that was more unrealistic than Fat Albert coming to life). Yeah, "Fat Albert" wasn't hilarious but it was charming. Every movie doesn't have to have car chases, sex, or cursing to be a "good" movie. And with that...

I like the movie a lot too.I think performances are good and I like the Fat Albert Soundtrack.I laughed during some scenes.I think they should have known how to open the Lemonade can and that nobody needs a can opener to open soda cans.I was born in 1972 and knew that soda cans had tabs on them when I was a toddler.

Kids movies can be smart and have some depth. This is total crap. As for the racial issues you seem to neglect that there are other movies that pull that off better, such as Akeelah and the Bee, for instance.

I realize this is an old post, but I agree with you.

Unfortunately, there would have to be sex, and at least one of the Fat Albert gang would need to be gay for some people to be able to enjoy this (or any) movie these days.

I really enjoyed the movie too, and found parts of it funny.
