Question for Danes...What was with that wedding?

I have a bunch of questions about this trilogy, but I will wait for a complete second viewing before I start posting questions...

But I need to know, what the hell was up with that wedding? Is that a traditional Danish wedding? Because if so, I knew there was always a reason I felt connected to my Danish heritage. Never been to Denmark, but I want to find my family in Denmark, just so I can go to one of their crazy hot stripper weddings.

I'm not a Dane, but probably close enough.

No, absolutely not a traditional Danish wedding, alas, but rather a scene depicting rough non-upperclass circles in a larger city.

But I've done som math work for you, and the numbers seem to indicate that paying a stripper, or getting your girlfriend do do it, may in several regards be less costly than reconnecting with your Danish kin and travelling there, especially if your Danish kin are rough criminals in a larger city.

BTW, the disadvantage of weddings is you're probably too drunk to notice the stripper (the little boy was sober though), whilst a DVD player has Pause and Slow Forward buttons. Just a thought. :-)

Thanks Movester. Damn...I thought it might be some sort of super cool tradition that they might've had. Oh well....Thanks again for the response. Peace.

No this is not an ordinary wedding, a normal danish wedding who never be attended by a stripper, it is an example of very bad taste. I have never heard about such a wedding, a danish wedding is just like a wedding in any other western european or north american.

If you have a danish heritage, it al depends on your surname, how easy it would be to find your ancestors, and in which part of Denmark your ancestors came from.

Yeah...I was sort of being silly by asking the question and assumed that it wasn't a typical Danish wedding. But...It is funny. I watched it with the commentary and Refn makes some little joking remark regarding the wedding. Something like, "And here you have one of our classic secular Danish weddings." Or something to that effect. I got the vibe that he was kidding, but that it wasn't unheard of either.

Thanks for the response, simon! My last name is Rasmussen and from what I have gathered it is like Jones or Smith over in Denmark. It is also kind of funny, during the scene where Tonny is talking with Gry at the tanning salon, across the street the building has a large sign that says, "Rasmussen." Anyways, thanks again for the response. Peace.

Ha! You do have an eye for beauty, sir - that stripper is *GORGEOUS*, one of the more attractive girls I´ve seen in any film recently. =D That boy in attendance was obviously *REALLY* in attendance; it didn´t look to me like he was edited into the scene, which added an extra layer of immorality and discomfort to an already dismal, sleazy movie. In short, great stuff!
