The Ending *SPOILER*

oh man. the ending was AWESOME. it totally made the entire movie worth watching. when she looked at the first person, i was like, wtf? there's someone else here? then i saw the girl, and the other people and i was like, ohhhh *beep* man. these people all collected their damn money and got stuck here. hahaha. now what i don't get is why their all sitting in that room. I know it's another of the games, but are they supposed to do something? like kill each other or something? or are they just sitting there to...i dunno. wait?

anyway, overall, the movie was okay. kind of a *beep* saw 2 rip-off, but kinda original in it's own way.

but oh man. the ending totally makes it awesome. they'd better not make a "House of Ten" or something. it'll totally ruin everything.

LOL!!!! sitting there waiting for the sequel!!!

reply

I think at the end they were all waiting for 9 people to complete the first test and then it would start all over again, only this time for $45,000,000.

They probably wont make a second one. I can't see how they can change it so it's not exacally the same as the first one.

I can't see why everyone is saying this is a rip off of Saw 2 because this came out first. Only by a few months but still, first. Although this was a good film, people shouldn't be comparing it to Cube either. Cube was a well thought out, well directed, well filmed and well acted movie. Though this is good, it's no Cube.

I have to agree with most people, the ending was great and I didn't even expect it. I'd give House Of 9 a 6/10.

reply

seiourasly they should make a house of 9/2 <hopefully they will make it somthing else>. and instead of making it money in the bag it should be ammo and a gun instead of money that would be awsome. and a guy wins this time instead of a girl like in evryother so called SCARY movie.but i give this movie a 8 out of ten.

I think the ending was showing that greed wins out over all.

The girl hadn't really expressed much interest in the money during the "game" but when everyone was dead and she was let out, instead of searching for an exit, she immediately picked up the bag full of cash and moved onward into the next room full of bag holding psychopaths who had already killed 8 other people for their bags. I got this from the neverous glances each of them shot toward the other bag holders.

I would suspect a sequel which I fall to see happening would offer up more toward the motives of the person/people doing this.

Are they doing it for fun, for profit etc. I predict its a organization doing it so they can sell the footage later.

reply

I haven't seen this movie in a little while so forgive me if I'm wrong about this, but I believe that when Lea had exited with the duffel bag full of money, she saw four others looking pretty distraught with similar duffel bags. My take on it was that each duffel bag contained $1,000,000 (which would account for the $5,000,000 prize that was advertised by the watcher) and the "winner" would need to play the same (or similar) game again to win all $5,000,000.

reply

i would just go nuts and hope the killing every one would get me out

reply

Saw 2 ripoff? Hardly. More like The House on Haunted Hill meets Mean Guns. A tough movie to sit through due to typical movie plot twists, but the ending makes up for it. And personally, I think they're just left there to die.

reply

You guys are totally off on this one.

As much as I liked the Saw and cube movies/tv movies... they are all ripoffs of battle royale. Now that is some freeky crap. Although, in that case, it's a foreign japnaese flick so they go all out with the gore.

Although in this version, i loved the ending. For some reason, i didn't see it coming... which was a good surprise.

If you loved this, watch battle royale... well that is if you can order it off the internet cause it's banned in the us. lol

I thought this movie really sucked and I usually like this sort of horror but not this time.

I got to the middle of this and was thinking to myself "This thing is going to have a twist ending and it better be REAL good and thought provoking because everything else sucks."

Seriously, there was no suspense at all. Heck, half of the kills were either an accident or someone just losing their temper. There were not even any "red herrings" in this movie. Just nine people being fed chicken and potatoes in a weird inescapable mansion. The first one accidentally gets killed and the rest fall like dominoes. We don't find out who is doing this to them or why either.

Oh and the ending which is suppose to be the best part: Yes it was a bit clever but nothing to write home about. The endings to any of the Saws or even My Little Eye are better than this.

I knew that it would not take much time for me to find a comment that was in accord with virtually 100% of any comment I could make. Your comment accomplished that admirably. The only reason I saw this movie was the need for something to do during a bout with insomnia. I will give this movie at least one star for its ability to capture my interest for long enough to endure it to the end.

The only thing that I am somewhat curious about is what the "Speaker" may have said at the beginning of the movie. I thought I recalled the Speaker saying something about them all having something in common, but it would be difficult for them to figure out what the thing in common was, which raised several questions in my mind:

1. Was something like this actually said? If so;

2. Was there any follow up on this idea later in the movie?

If there was something in common among them, this could lead to other plot possibilities and other explanations of the ending of the movie.

The fact that I have some interest in asking these questions, I suppose indicates some attraction to this movie, even if the attraction is miniscule . If anyone can answer these questions, I would be appreciative.

Battle Royale banned in the US? Well then, Amazon.com must have gone rogue, because you can buy from there for $20.

The whole killing of people just for fun because you have nothing better to do with your time and money (since he was so rich), actually comes from way back. There's this story from the 20s or 30s called The Most Dangerous Game, and it's pretty amazing. Hostel is a direct rip on it. You should all check it out.

why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

reply

The story "Most dangerous game" is by Robert Shekley. And the rip-off is not "Hostel", but "The Running man" book by Stephen King (also movie though different a bit).

I agree. I thought the ending was great. I can't decide on how I feel about the movie as a whole, but I don't dislike it. Personally, I think they were just left there-- as a cruel joke. He said they'd get the money and leave alive. However, he never said where they'd end up. And, it makes sense that he wouldn't let them out completely; they could go to the authorities. I think the ending was there to show that the trap would last forever, and to show the viewers that there were many more victims before these nine showed in the movie. Kind of deepening the horrific circumstances, for the viewer. I think it's implied that the people with the bags of money would end their lives there, and the twisted person behind it all would continue tormenting people in groups of nine.

When I saw the end I was thinkin ok..hes done this before...but maybe not necessarily at different times. If its a mansion who knows how many rooms or sections their could be...if you really look at it...they all looked like they had just gotten their..still paranoid, fresh wounds and blood on their clothes, and strongly clinging on to their bag of money..if they had been their for a while ..as soon as something opened they would be looking for some food, water perhaps. Also with all the music and loud yelling the group of 9 we were wathing were doing...they would yell though the walls for help if they were their for a long time. So a sequel is possible.

What i wonder is how to go through it, knowing what you already know, has to be more ruthless . i dont think the winner of 'our' game stands a chance truthfully. she was meek and just barely killed dude by falling over ledge.

Now, if you remember the beginning, the Watcher said the prize was getting $5mill and being the only one to survive. He didnt say anything about being freed. THATS the jist of the end. All those people in the next room got the $$$ and thats ALL they got. The watcher isnt going to let these people GO. Now, will he give them further instructions for another game? Who knows.

Now, this plot concept has been done before, but a lot of people are saying its a Cube and Saw ripoff, but its not. It may have similarities, but I think the camera work and build up was actually pretty amazing as were the gore effects. Im a huge critic with movies, and usually only watch older movies or foreign, but the camera was basically a catalyst for all emotion and action in this movie, so I have to give props to it.

Lea taking the money at the end had nothing to do with her being "greedy", this woman was pushed to the brink of madness from the situation. She was probably on autopilot at this point. She just killed someone, heard a door open, grabbed a bag and walked thru following instinct, which I think anyone would do.
