I was surprised that a woman wrote and directed this film. The scene in the bathroom (early in the film) seems to reflect a masculine sex fantasy--that some guys are such studs that they don't need foreplay to give a girl an orgasm. Does the director really want to give that impression? I wonder what he sex life is like.
I don't see any real development. I agree with many of the posts on the other boards that she should have chosen Dennis. Anyway, why would she crawl into bed with a guy as undiscriminating as Fritz? Is she looking for an STD?
andiam - It's not that the guy was so studly, but the girl was on a hair trigger (tryinig to avoid the word "easy" here). I have known women like this, I have also known women that "need foreplay" as you put it.
it is there to illustrate the guy is a man-whore. the girls ability to orgasm is HER ability. does he facilitate? sure, but it's not due to sexual prowess, but being available and attractive to HER.
(heh - I wonder what YOUR sex life is like if you see such malice here)
I am not "one" of those girls, but I have had sex at a wedding reception with one of the groomsmen that I didn't know. I've only did that once in my life. But I can tell you with a little alcohol (which they were all drinking wine I believe) you maybe likely to do whatever. Wine makes me want to have sex, minus the foreplay...LOL...It's sex and adventurous/spontaneous sex. Plus, I'm sure the character was made to look shallow in the beginning, but I'm sure we realize that by having sex with the server gal he was trying to forget how much pain he was in over losing his best friend. Just my two cents.
Exactly, the whole bathroom scene was to build up an idea about Fritz. So we could build up to the WHOLE point of the movie that you never really know anyone. Grady had seemed so perfect when in fact he had huge secrets of children, affairs and money kept from Grey. Kevin Smith who seemed like the goofy comical friend was really so torn up he almost kills himself. While Fritz was really a good guy who just needed the right woman to bring him out. Hence the who scene at dinner when she talks about all the things Grady did not know about her.
