I'm afraid i wasn't paying that much attention to the dead fiancé storyline, i was too busy focusing on Olyphant's character, but i do remember they said something about some accident that happened during his bachelor party weekend. I really don't remember the particulars, but i hope it helps.

I thought it was a skiing accident or snow boarding but then again they were going fishing.I just assumed because they showed his snow passes.
Which if he did die in an accident like that it would have been strange because my friend Leon just died in one a month ago.

shareThat is referring to white water kayaking. A flat bottom boat is more likely to tip, which combined with a bad pass probably means he probably either drowned or hit his head on the rocks.
