Gray + Grady?

I found it a little strange they choose names that are so similar... couldn't they come up w/a different name for one of them?

reply

No kidding. First of all, why would a girl be named Gray? For the first half of the movie I was preoccupied with trying to learn their names. Every time they said Gray I thought they were talking about the dead guy.

reply

The fact that thier names are so similar makes me crazy. I don't know why they had to do that. I am glas that I am not the only one that thinks this way! :)

This tidbit of the movie drove me nuts as well...I have never in my life heard of a girl names Gray (although I do know one boy who is named Gray...), regardless, why would the writers have their names be so similar? I thought writing was supposed to be creative...they couldn't come up with something better than Gray and Grady????

reply

The whole name thing bugged me too. I've never heard anyone in real life named either Gray OR Grady. At least Grady sounds like a name. As for Gray?!?! And for a woman? Fritz bugged me as well. Why couldn't they just have normal names?!

reply

I had just assumed they were last names.. at least hers. I know a few people who go by their last names.

reply

I actually know a girl named Gray so i didn't find it weird at all.

reply

not the same but a guy i know has the name Ashley and subsequently married a girl named Ashley O_o

reply

Did anybody else notice that in the beginning the you see the wedding announcments with their names on them? Gray is Gray Cardigan Wheeler. That not only makes me think that the name choice was even dumber, but it also makes a joke that is utterly pointless.

reply

Technically the invite says 'Cadogan', but I'm sure the cardie joke was intended.

reply

I took it as Grey was herlast name. I have some friends that I call them by thier last name. ? Maybe thats it? IDK

What's so weird? I've met girls/women named Keith, Kevin and Sydney. And as a writer, I know that sometimes names or other details pop into your head and you decide not to fight them off...

I guess none of you have ever heard of a show called "Grey's Anatomy." I know the spelling is a little different. The name is still the same.

And I always thought it was more realistic. Sometimes people fall in love and their names sound similar, or don't sound good together, and theres nothing they can do about it.

reply

Technically the spelling "Grey" is used for a person's name and "Gray" is the traditional spelling of the color. I believe those in the UK spell the color either way but "grey", is traditionally for names only.
