I cannot seem to source any information about the new series, when/ if it's back on television etc. etc. anywhere, so if anyone is able to help me it would be very much appreciated. Any information at all would be very helpful, Merci
Yeah it does start sep 6th. And judging by the website on BBC it seems Jill has followed Cath and Dom to the the religious community. Theres also series 2 galleries with Linda and Glen featured, so both will be back although they were killed last series???
Yes, September 6th, BBC3. There is an article in Weekend (Guardian supplement) which is an interview with Julia Davis. She doesn't mention much about the new series except that it will be the last Nighty Night series, she's not doing any more after this for fear of being type cast.
She also said that while she was filming the first series, she couldn't stop laughing, but whilst filming the new series, she wasn't laughing as much and she isn't sure whether it is as good as the first series yet.
There is a picture from the new series which shows Jill dressed as a school girl and Glenn with really long curly hair.
Well, thinking about it. I don't care if the new series is half as good as the first 1, because it will still be brilliant.
It looks like she's taken the show in a good direction. Jill has gone chasing after Don, where he has become a surfer, apparently part of his mid life crisis.
I was worried that Julia Davis would do what a lot of shows do in their second series. They push something that makes them unique. Nighty Night's is the fact that it has complete disregard of taste. I was worried that this series could just be too dark but it doesn't look that way so far.
Also, you can download clips to your mobile if you have a video phone. Check the bbc website for details.

I can believe that, having seen the first installment of series 2. It was OK (see another thread on this board for my thoughts) but nothing like as funny as series one
I can safely say that the first episode of series 1 was much funnier than that of series 2

I agree. I am in no way prudish but I found the first episode of series 2 to be a bit too distateful. I thought series one was the best new comedy for ages and was really looking forward to the second. But I have to say that unless it gets much better I will be very disappointed. Fingers crossed!
Well a lot happened in this episode. I too was disappointed, but felt the Linda/Jill scenes were quite familiar with that of series one. And i did enjoy the whole scene at Sue's. I'm hoping the show will get back to it's best when Jill and Linda have settled into a new full time enviroment in the second ep.
OMG right i do understand y'all have your own opnions and what not but I have to disagree with you so badly! I thought the first episode was absolutely hillarious, it had me choking with laughter all the time! And I've seen it 3 times since then o it wasn't a fluke me laughign the first time as everytime I watch I burst out laughing. I just can't understand how it was "bad"!?! Omg does anyone else agree with me? Anyone got any fave quotes from that episode?
Glen: "Actually Jill, he tried to sodomise me earlier" Jill: "How was that?" Glen: "I was in the shower and I bent down to get my 'wash & go'...he came in and out"
Jill: "Lost a bit of weight haven't you Linda?" Linda: "Sorry Jill"
Jill: "Just coz you lost your cherry to a dog Linda" Linda: "It was nice"
Jill: "I spoke to Jesus earlier actually and he asked if you could give me a cheque or you chip and pin?" ( the way she says chip and pin makes me laugh so much)
Counsellor: "How about if Don use a finger?" Cathy: "Well, we've tried that..." Counsellor: "And how did that go?" Cathy: "Well he Don hadn't cut his finger nails..."
Okay so my quotes may not be word for word, but you understand what I mean hehehe.
Miss Pippin, you have (I assume, inadvertantly) highlighted exactly why the latest episode wasn't funny:
Glen: "Actually Jill, he tried to sodomise me earlier" Jill: "How was that?" Glen: "I was in the shower and I bent down to get my 'wash & go'...he came in and out"
Not funny.
Jill: "Just coz you lost your cherry to a dog Linda" Linda: "It was nice"
Not funny

Jill: Lost a bit of weight haven't you Linda Linda: Sorry Jill Jill: You know why that is don't you Linda: 'rexia Jill: No. It's because you slept with Terry Linda: Oh yeah, they do say it's good excercise don't they Jill: No Linda. The cancer, you've obviously caught it.
Jill: "God you look old Sue...If you weren't talking i might try and bury you"
"Now, i'm sorry Judy put there's nothing i can do for you facially okay, i'm so sorry. But what we can do is just give you little tidy up downstairs....let's just get your knickers down....oh dear, looks like you've been growing this one for years, very matted Judy, you thinking about joining the rastafarians"
Oh and the other lines to judy were great: Judy: I don't really look down there Jill: Yeah but someone might, albeit a nosy mugger.
Jill: We've got a range of styles to choose from, any thoughts about what look you want? Judy: NOTHING Jill: Really, the Hollywood, a lot of men do tend to go for the bold ones, lol"
Quite whether you intended it or not, your most recent reply was actually rather less embarrassing to read.
You are like a Jekyll and Hyde: you can say one smart thing one moment, then open your mouth whilst your foot is still in it and say something stupid the next.
Fair enough if you're not so well off: as it happens, the only way I was able to go to Oakham School was because I won a Scholarship - and they only handed 3 of those out a year so I fully understand what it means to get help like that.
I would have to take issue with this: You really need to stop acting as though you are so much better than me because you are not, nobody is better than anyone
Are you seriously telling me that Ian Huntely or Fred West or Joseph Stalin are my equal, and that I am "no better" than them? If so, then you should feel ashamed.
I do not buy this "no one is better than anyone else" crap - because, quite frankly, that's all it is: crap. That said, I am not saying I am better than you, not a bit of it, I am just challenging your thought process around that. Of course some people are better than others. It goes without saying - or, it should - and it's plain foolish to deny it.
Now, all of that said, I'm quite ready to forget this little exchange of ours and to move on. We have Nighty Night in common, which is one great thing more than most people have.

I do appreciate your opnion and I do agree we put this behind us and move on - I apologise again. Sorry about all this - rough times and all, taking it out no the wrong people, I apologise again. Nighty Night rules! :)
I shall now delete my recent posts aimed at you; they've served their purpose and are now surpless to requirements. I accept your apology and I acknowledge it's a shame we spoke like we did.
And Nighty Night rules? Baby: you ain't kidding

I think the main "problem" with the first episode was that it was very scattered and a little unsure, wheras the first episode and the first series was very set in the story it was trying to tell and Jill's outrageous exploits along the way. Saying that, surely a strong narritive will help this series' acceptance, and i think we just need some time, maybe a couple more episodes for the characters to settle in to this new location. It's going to be different from that dark, suburban setting from the first series, but surely if it was just a repeat of that, rehashing the same scenarios, you'd be complaining even more. I personally loved the episode, i mean i did think it was "weaker" than previous episodes but i still loved it. And i agree some of the lines we're a little more out there and outrageous then they have been before but they were still great. On top of that the characters are superb, and there are some real greats like Jill and Linda. I think this series will look a lot more promising when Jill finally rediscovers her love for getting in between Cathy and Don.
Though I'm sad to hear that Julia has said she won't do a third series, I was suprised that a second series even happened. The first ended so 'finally' it seemed there was no way to top it.
I have mixed feeling on the first ep of the new series. Obviously its not going to be as brilliant as the first series, but I AM very glad to see Jill back, and see where she goes next.
The storyline is a little confusing. Mostly Linda's part in it. Wasn't she dead in the loft with Terry (who was alive) at the end of the first series? Jill must have left Glen for dead and gone off to make sure she had finished off Terry (which is sad) But Im hoping it's explained later how Linda spent all that time locked up in Jills house, and then must have not been there when Jill strangled Terry. I don't care how dumb Linda is, Im sure she'd not follow Jill around still if she knew she'd killed terry. Its also hard to beleive that Jill isnt being investigated by the police after having a funeral for a man who wasn't dead yet. She's obviously guilty of some kind of fraud there. No one found that suspicious atall. Maybe this is another reason why she's after Glens chip and pin and 'start again'. It'd certainly add a bit of fun to the story if we find out later she is on the run from the police. I hope this gets explained by the end of the series.
As for best quotes, I'd say that was at the wedding, while Glen was giving his speech and Jill was heckling 'Killer! He's a killer!' to the man she'd just married.
Well the explanation behind the finality of the first series, and the plot holes of Linda and the funeral were explained as follows (i think)
Linda looking dead at the end of series one, has been explained by "the coma" by Jill to Sue. "COma's" were something that Glen and Gordon also suffered, meaning Jill's attempted poisoning of them wasn't as successful as she'd of liked. Linda apparantly was also poisoned, so i'm assuming Jill dished out some "nannachocoskotch" angel delight to her too, lol. The problem with the comas was that it left Gordon "vegatablised" as Jill put it, and Glenn amnesiac which meant Jill could pretty much fill his head with whatever she wanted (meaning he really thinks he killed Terry...which i assume wraps up the storyline, the funeral and the fact theresbeen no follow up in terms of police investigation must be some sort of poetic license, lol. It is all very confusing to bring back all the characters, lol, but i;m glad of it and just accept all the loose plot holes within it.
"With all due respects Linda, Terry would find a window special. Very low IQ, round about 50, puts him on par with a donkey"
Maybe Terry isn't actually dead, and Glen just thinks he is. Or Jill, maybe she thinks he's actually dea, but he has in fact escaped.
I'm hoping not, Kevin Eldon is hilarious. He was a bit underused in the first series - he was pretty much the put upon straight man. It would be fantastic if he randomly came back, but had gone a bit bonkers.
After watching episode two of the new series I was very pleased. I think it is going to return to form- episode one was all over the place because Davis wanted to cram in as much useless stuff as she could and then get the real comedy going. I am really not keen on Glen, he makes me feel sick, or Linda's beau. Both hideous creatures who, in my opinion, are simply not the right sort for this programme. I hope Jill murder's Don's new girlfriend.... Any scene with Jill in makes me laugh until I cry. Keep it coming Julia.
P.S When is it on BBc2 and when is the whole night of it on (to tape it)?
