stupid american remakes....

christ just accept the fact that its been done. im sick of stupid americans making stupid remakes of stuff cos they are too retarded to see why things are funny and have to remake them.
i know not all americans are stupid, but for christ's sake stop remaking good shows and films and just let them be. cant they just let graet shows be, not buy the rights to an american remake or whatever and try to write their own stuff. why oh god why are the only ideas america comes up with at the moment are titles such as " snakes on a plane" among others. i watched the remake of the office and found it to be boring, un funny, and slightly offencive in terms of "americans have to remake other countrys films and shows because blah blah blah". whatever more i find depressing are production companies and artists sell up their ideas for a few dollars.

Since the very beginning American TV networks have had a very protectionist policy, so much so that Americans are simply not used to seeing any kind of foreign TV. They have difficulty with references to other cultures and also have difficulty understanding different English speaking accents. This doesn’t apply in other English speaking countries like the UK, Ireland, Canada, and Australia as the viewers in those countries are very used to different cultures represented on TV.

We understand what americans are saying with their shows even if their slang terms are different to ours.

How would they like it if we remade FRASIER?

The office: an AMERICAN workplace
AERICAN idol

Both English programmes remade with America in the title.

....

Why?

The whole point of pop idol was that it was a search to find a new POP IDOL. An Idol in Pop music. Defeats the object kinda, don't it?

Easy now, fuzzy little man peach.

Britain remakes programmes from abroad.
"Generation Game" began in Holland as "0 out of 8".
"3-2-1" was originally a Spanish TV game show called Unos, Dos, Tres.

Those are the only examples I can think of. Not many in 30+ years

I don't think game shows really count. Its hardly the same thing.

Was The Army Game a remake of Bilko?

I know, they remake everything and fail why? just put subtitles translating if they are that dumb, their latest remake of aussie series Kath & Kim, failed mainly because the original is a exageration of australian culture, so remaking it in america was destined to fail... tut tut tut even england was able to watch the original and enjoy it!

That's what happens when you are the single most influential nation on Earth. I mean of course culturally influential, we have all grown up on American films and Television which means we understand the different american accents and references to contemporary issues and politics whereas 300 million Americans probably wouldn't get the obscure minority accents we have in the UK in this case the west country.

It's not fair to assume re-makes are due to Americans being stupid, they clearly are not. This show in particular would have to be remade if it is to be shown on a mainstream channel at primetime as it is just way too graphic and disturbing for the tastes of the average American (actually even the average Brit that's probably why it was first shown late at night on BBC3). It'd be different or left as it is if it was shown on a private pay-per-view cable channel like HBO. We British have foul mouths and sense of humour to match which isn't to everyones taste. Still, I wouldn't change it!

I think both series of Nighty Night are perfect.
Julis Davis is my all time fave female comedy writer and performer.
She can do no wrong in my eyes.
I just want to see her back on TV doing her own work.
Despite her appearences on IDEAL and Gavin And Stacy, i would love to see her get back to writing her own series.
