Revisiting series two, much better than I remembered.

I've been a huge fan of series 1 of NN since it aired, I've rewatched it a few times times and never fail to find it utterly hilarious but when series two aired I was disappointed. Everything was just too over the top, too extreme and too reliant on gross out scenes at the expense of properly constructed brilliance of S1. I recently got the dvd however, and I have to admit although it is quite extreme it still towers over most of the rubbish that passes for comedy these days. I saw episode five last night and Jill holding up the scan photo saying that she may actually give birth to a monkey while Julia Davis tried and failed to keep a straight face = comedy gold.

Edit: now I've got 'Lavender's Blue' stuck in my head great!

Agreed.

Season 2 is a shambles. Everything about it (story, tone, performances) is all over the place, and the show relies on shock value when inspiration fails.
