just fyi

In the trivia and goofs it keeps saying that the Carter Cowboys were eventually disqualified and their title stripped because a player was found ineligible. That's not true, Carter went to court over the algebra 2 grade of Gary Edwards during the playoffs thst season and it was eventually found that he had in fact passed the course and Carter was therefore allowed to play in the playoffs. They were never stripped of their title.

texasfootball.com (a major publication as well as online source in Texas and surrounding states) and 5atexasfootball.com both have listed as

5A - Converse Judson 1, Dallas Carter 0 (Dallas Carter stripped of title)

On-field score: Dallas Carter 31, Converse Judson 14

I'm just reporting the reports lol. They found that Gary Edwards had passed his classes through a lengthy trial (although he clearly had not). He did go to prison for robbery after high school instead of cashing in his college scholarship. Karma some might say.

Carter was indeed stripped of their title.

I thought there was a Darrin Edwards too?

You may be thinking of Derric Evans... Gary Edwards' teammate. I think Derric was one of the boys caught in the burglary ring that doomed a few of their players after football was over.
