Really? Let's all feel sorry for this guy????

"Miles attended Ranger junior college for a year and played as a fullback before flunking out and has since had trouble holding jobs. He then spent some time playing semi-pro football in Culpepper, Virginia though he was never able to regain his high school form or confidence in his ability. He regrets trying to play on his injured knee before having surgery to repair it.[4]

He has two children who live in Midland with their mother. As of August 2009 Miles lives in Dallas and is not working. In May 2009, he was charged with aggravated assault. Police said he struck his stepbrother repeatedly in the head with a beer bottle. He received a sentence of five years' deferred probation in district court. The charge will be dismissed if he successfully completes probation." From wikipedia.

Critics suck. Go see what they hate

You do not have to feel sorry for him. However it would be stupid to ignore the culture from where he lives will set many many players up for failure.

Haters gonna hate

What does that have to do with what happens to him in this movie?

Why are so many conservatives so virulently opposed to the slightest bit of compassion? No wonder you went down in flames in '12.

I'm not a conservative and I do think what happened to him is sad but at the same time I don't feel sorry for him because his life is completely of his own making. He chose to put football above everything else and to not take his academic life at least somewhat seriously. Granted that everyone was telling him how great he was and that he was bound to go to the NFL and make some big money but at te same time a person in that situation should know that nothing is guaranteed and that you have to have a fall back just in case.

Anyone named "Boobie" is bound to have a tough time in life. H.G. Bissinger wrote a piece for the August 3, 2015 Sports Illustrated on the 25th anniversary of the book's release. Boobie Miles is currently doing time for probation violation and will be eligible for parole in 2017. On a positive note. Miles got his weight down to 368 pounds from 420 since entering prison, and says he accepts responsibility for his actions.

The portrait of this person/character is much larger than making you feel sorrow for him personally, to me it conveyed feeling sorry for anyone that puts themselves in that situation. But we all do it to some extent, not many people have the forethought, skills or maybe opportunities to easily adjust to a productive life with many different skill sets. I would guess that is why so much of America lives in poverty, crime and the prison system.
