I remember my senior year at Permian and seeing them film this

Very strange to walk down the halls in 2004 and see film crews shooting scenes. I remember all the fun chaos that came with the production of this film, and i would say it made for a memorable senior year.

I was grew up in Odessa, and I lived there until I was 23. I've moved to Florida since, but I occasionally watch this film and find it oddly nostalgic. Even though some things are exaggerated, this movie captures a very true essence of Odessa and it's football culture. It's very weird seeing your home so accurately portrayed on screen, that it almost captures a documentarian vibe.

Very well done film.

And since I was only two at the time this film takes place, I can't really say if Odessa was "economically depressed." But I can say parts of Odessa are full of very nice neighborhoods, occupied with very wealthy residents. This was filmed mostly in the older parts of Odessa and in west Odessa, which is a huge trailer park community, so maybe some of that depiction is exaggerated...but like I said, I can't recall what exactly Odessa was like in '88.

Even with the current bust, there is still a ton of money out there. You've never seen so many rednecks driving $100K vehicles haha.

I was born in Lubbock and lived in Colorado City for the past decade, bouncing around a bit between. Whole family is from out west.

Come back to Texas brother.
