I really liked this movie but I would've loved it had the coach been more likable. He wasn't mean or anything, but something just felt missing. For example, the in real life coach said he would never let a parent talk to their student that way on the field. In the movie, he just stands there and lets him have it. Pretty lame. Not going to stick up for your team? Aside from that, Billy Bob's performance is really good.
shareHe knocked his son down in full football gear. I had to think about this like the coach does. Not to make more of a scene out of it. Tough judgment call - appears the onscreen coach knew something we didn't until all sung.
We're given a pan out shot of the atmosphere there, the small town shops close around their schedule and sheriff inquiring about, former players up and personal.
