dude. KPAX
shareAhem... Let's compare:
90s:
1. Glengarry Glen Ross
2. The Usual Suspects
3. Seven
4. L.A. Confiedntial
5. American Beauty
--As well as:
-The Ref
-Outbreak
-A Bug's Life
-The Negotiator
Since 2000:
1. The Big Kahuna
2. Pay It Forward
3. K-Pax
4. The Shipping News
5. The Life of David Gale
6. The United States of Leland
Now, personally I loved The Big Kahuna, and K-Pax and The Shipping News were okay; bland, but okay. But just compare the lists! WHAT IS HE THINKING? He went from 5 great films, each with a distinct, solid performance, to Hallmark movies of the week. I'm just perplexed. I hope "Superman Returns" is good, for his own sake. He needs to fire his agent or whoever helps him choose what scripts to do. Maybe he needs to fire himself, I don't know.
While I agree that his best movies (until now) are from the 90s, I don't think you should "dish" his choises since 2000.
The Usual Suspects, Seven and L.A. Confidential is definetly superior movies, (specially TUS, favourit movie of all time here) but The Life of David Gale, while the title is debateable, the movie is brilliant and all the casted actors in it do a great job, maybe with the exception of Matt Craven and the plot is brilliant and as almost always with Spacey movies, it has good few twists put into it.
But agreed, they aren't as good, but then, not been that many great movies out since 2000 where I could see Kevin Spacey playing a beliveable lead... I couldn't really see him in any action movies like the Matrix or Equlibrium and not in fantasy like LOTR either, hehe
