I chalk this up with Sum Of All Fears as movies he did for a paycheck.

The movie itself wasn't good but Dylan McDermott and Morgan Freeman did solid work. There are other threads about McDermott so I'll still to the subject...

It's easy for an older actor to play a hardened no-nonsense character; just scowl and act bitter all the time. Freeman played that type of character but in a smart way without those cliches. Moses wasn't a total ballbuster - he did what he could to help Pollack in a way that forced him to learn. Sure, he ended up helping the kid he fired but his personality never did the cheesy flip-flop from hardass boss to sweet old man. Freeman was even bold with the dialogue which was intelligent yet slightly dirty compared to his previous roles.

But you're right, it wasn't the wisest choice. It's not good when Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey can't even save your movie. At the same time, I'm sure it's hard to decide on a role in the early stages. When you're in pre-production, everything is just emails, phonecalls and a script. From what I understand, they thought it was going to the theater until test screenings doomed it straight to DVD.

Even though this movie sucks so badly and you wonder what the hell he was doing in it, Morgan still rules. He NEVER puts in a bad performance and this was no exception, he was funny.
Dylan McDermott was so pathetic in this film. Overracting PLUS.

If Morgan Freeman would go in "Dreamcatcher", he'd go in anything.
