Edison...coincidenc e?!?

I reside in Edison, NJ also a town in many other states and countries, but we actually have corrupt law officers here, as discussed in a 60 minutes episode and few other acclaimed periodicals. Not sure if there was published work such as a novel or other work on corruption in any Edison towns but the corruption does exist here based on personal accounts. Obviously every fictional story is loosely based on a real event or novel, but can anyone confirm if this story directly involves Edison NJ or any other Edison.

Yeah, well I live in Chicago and guess what, we have corrupt cops too. So does every other city in America.

yes this movie is based on Edison, NJ (aka the USA's most corrupt police per 60 minutes). The movie was supposed to be filmed in edison but spodoro shot it down because of the bad publicity it would have gotten. They then filmed it in canada.

Movies are shot in Vancouver all the time because of cheaper production costs. I find it hard to believe that this is based on Edison, NJ, seeing as the Edison in the movie is supposed to be a bustling metropolis with a real crime problem, not a suburban town where a single homicide would make local headlines. Even if the cops here are corrupt, they've done nothing worthy of inspiring a movie.

Yeah well I live in Edison,NJ too. And I don't remember anyone shooting the hell out of any location, or all those high rises, or car chases. The only coincidence is maybe the corruption motivation, that is about it, and I am sure they could have got that from other cities.

The story goes like this, Edison NJ does have a number of corruption issues, most recently officers drawing weapons prematurely, and getting fired/quit because of it. Other instances include cops driving naked, and an officer's attempted robbery of a bank. Rumors of dirty politics from form mayor Spadoro also ran rampant and recently a new mayor has unseated the long time incumbant.

Coincidences?

Perhaps. I think most police are upstanding hard working officers, and the sad few corrupt police make more press than the good.

As for the movie, Edison in the movie looks and bares no resemblance to my home town of Edison NJ.

However it was indeed a big stink in Edison and the movie drew alot of parralles to the city, and because of such it was protested and contested widely in the local papers.

I think that debat caused the distribution of Edison, or if you will Edison Force to get buried, and sneaked out quietly on DVD. Shame really it's a damn good movie. LL Cool J really shined in this, but I guess that's politics.(Pun intended)
