Under-rated?

Anyone else feel this film is quite under-rated? I don't know if its because it has Josh Hartnett as the lead so people automatically dismiss it, but this flick was thoroughly entertaining and quite brutal.
The cinematography was also splendid, they made great use of a beautiful location. But obviously, the best thing is the vampires. The savage, animalistic nature of them was quite refreshing when compared to more contemporary depictions. They didn't feel cartoony either, they really felt evil.

Just a great horror film all-around, no?

Change "Under" to "Over" and then I will agree.

Not at all.

You are insane. This is a 5.9 at best.

"Change "Under" to "Over" and then I will agree."

Exactly.

I agree. This movie is way over rated. The story makes no sense full of plot holes and nothing is really explained. It had some nice cinema photography, and Mellisa George is good. but thats about it.

I think this is a very entertaining and brutal vampire flick. I own it on Blu Ray, that's how good I think it is.

I do think it's under-rated. People really don't have taste anymore if something isn't spoon-fed to them.
I saw a reply on here that said something about how 'nothing is explained' - that's the stupidest comment I have ever read. Everything is explained. If you need more backstory then you don't need to be watching movies like this.

I gave this a 10. Very good & brutal horror flick.

Completely agree, very underrated.

i never thought it was underrated. Always liked it myself and i thought it did reasonably well when it came out and people seemed to enjoy it. I think it found more of a life on DVD. DEfinitely one of the better vampire offerings in the recent years

I remember when I saw this advertised in cinemas and on billboards, thought it looked trashy and terrible, yet I still saw it due to my friend
Never have I been so wrong
It sure is trashy but in the best way possible, ultra gory, beautiful locations and cinematography amazing acting and a great soundtrack
And the thing that lifts this above any other horror film in recent years except maybe The Cabin in the Woods is the fact that it was terrifying, I was hiding behind my hands at points, and it's things that shouldn't be scary, the couple vampire as one scratches the radio, and they all start screaming into the night, never have I been so disturbed, also when they suddenly dart along roofs, it was tense, horrible and it gives me nightmares
Watching it now and the only actual weak bit, is the final right, it felt misplaced

I've never understood all the hate for this movie. It's excellent!! The comments just confuse me. There are almost no plot holes at all, pretty much everything is explained...it's wonderfully dark, violent, scary, tense...what else were people expecting? What more did they want??
