to me this film sounds like a re-doing of the crow, just with luci liu replacing brandon lee. think of it brutal murder, rises from the dead, goes out for revenge against the killers, nearly an exact match. anyone agree?

Yeah, except that The Crow was reasonably good, while Rise is absolutely terrible.

Other than that, though, they're exactly the same.

Any movie about someone returning from the dead to kill the gang that killed them is basically a rip-off of High Plains Drifter.

No this movie isn't a rip off of anything this movie sucks. Even comparing it to High Plains drifter is blasphemy.
