AKA Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter

Has no one else read these books and thought it similar? The two main characters are nearly identical!

Anita Blake - a vampire bitten girl who becomes a vamp hunter...
Sadie Blake - a vampire bitten girl who becomes a vamp hunter too

... and Bishop reminds me of the master Vamp in the books, jean-Claude, both good looking, charming, evil and European

When I watched the film I thought the characters personalities were similar too

reply

yea i thought that too. i had a gf that read those books.
But "european" isnt realy something that defines a bad guy :P

It seems to in American movies lol :)

reply

No, one is an Englishman and one a Frenchman, I can only assume that no suitable French actors were available to make it a closer copy...

I only draw the comparison, not that Europeans are evil, definitely not!

reply

Or German and Russian, they are nearly always German or Russian.

reply

European's are bad guys only because they are usually smarter then the average American. A stupid bad guy isn't as scary as a Smart bad guy

yes, I'm American.

You want to know how stupid people are? Just look at how stupid the average person is, and realize that half of the people are stupider then that.

Attempted murder? It's not like he killed someone.

Actually in the Anita Blake books she isn't bitten for quite some time into the series. Also she lives in a society where vampirism is legal and can be attained legally at the age of 18. There really weren't a lot of similarities between this movie and the Anita Blake character at all. I didn't see Lucy Liu bringing any corpses back to life using her necromancy powers or working with any special police task force designed to handle supernatural problems. Sorry, just don't see it.

I've read ALL of the Anita Blake books and LOVE them. However, I have yet to see the movie. I just figure Lucy Liu as a vampire...works for me!

And if they ever made the Anita Blake books I would be soooo happy!! And Jean-Claude isn't evil just because he's a vampire.

Hey AB fans what do you think of the comic book? I was a little disappointed in the drawings of the characters. I was hoping a little bit realistic than cartoony. They all look underage! Anyway, that's my opinion!

Im sorry but i have to agree with Stryder11 and say i just dont see it.
Have you actualy read the books?
Anita was a hunter way before she got bitten.
When she did get bitten she did not become a vampire but did start to gain some of the abilities.
She soesnt actualy go hunting the vampires unless she has a court order to do so. The vampires that she does kill without a court order have normaly attacked her first.

Same last name and thats it.

reply

I, also, have to agree with Stryder

I've read a few Anita Blake books, and the only thing that struck me of any similarity between the books and movie is the last name. The writer could have been inspired by the books of Laurell K. Hamilton, thus tried to pay homage by giving his character the same last name. But it ends there. Anita is strong willed and defiant since page 1, while Lucy's character Sadie didn't seem to get aggressive until she realized what she became.

reply

haha! i was just thinking that. i thought the director to this movie has probably read a few too many Anita Blake books. i'm sure if the books were made into a movie, it would be ten times better than this crap.
