It's pissing me off now

It's so cheap, sleazy, easy and cheesy to use nudity all the time. Who is it for? Men. Why female vampires got to be supersexy babes in underwear, nude or lesbians?
Really stupid.

It's really pathetic when every new movie seem to have sick **** in them. It's even more pathetic with immature men who love it just because of it. Sin city, 300, this one...

I'm getting sick of all the nudity they put in movies, it's so obvious why they do it. It is never needed.

Americans seem to think it's so great with "European nudity", well it's nothing great at all. The nudity they use in movies is not even realistic. Why do all the actresses look the same then? It's just another way to discriminate.

I wonder why people never get tired of it, it's nothing new seeing naked people. It's getting very old and used up. And it never makes a movie better, only cheaper.

People who like watching naked strangers doing it on film are pathetic.

I liked the movie but I agree that it was almost like they were including nudity just to have it and not for any real....effect?! Not that nudity has a "specific" effect but there are better times to use it than this, its true.

I didn't see the movie yet, but after what I read here, I'm definitely going to.

Looking at the plot summary, I'd say "Rise" is no art movie. Pure entertainment. Right?

Well, the truth is that many people, including me, consider nudity to be entertaining. Sad but true. I'm a simple guy and I like simple pleasures. When watching a movie for pure entertainment, I want violence, blood, and f-words. Sexy ladies in skimpy outfits (or no outfits at all) fit such flicks perfectly. Moreover, I don't want realistic nudity. Realistic nudity is pimples, flabby a$$es, and not-so-clean-shaven legs. Realistically speaking, realistic people aren't physically perfect.

Since nudity is supposed to entertain, at least in such movies, then it can't be realistic. It's gotta be sexy, tempting, and perfect. And the actresses don't look the same. Carla Gugino and Lucy Liu are quite different, although they're both breathtaking.

Finally, I don't think that only men seek nudity in entertainment movies. Go to the "300" boards and see all the enthusiastic comments referring to Gerard Butlers butt-naked shots posted by girls.

Many people like nudity. I'm one of them. I am not ashamed of it.

What's pissing me off are bigots and middle-aged snobs who call guys like me immature, because I like "Sin City" more than "Gosford Park".

It really sounds to me like you have a self esteem problem, and that's not gonna get fixed just by taking the nudity out of movies.

I'll tell you what's pathetic; coming here and ranting like a lunatic instead of just NOT WATCHING the movie! There are plenty of great movies without sex and nudity. There's no need to judge and act arrogant just because you disagree.

But in this movie the nudity is put in for the sake of nudity... he's got a point. Though I refuse to fully agree about the 300 comment. Girls went ape *beep* about gerards butt because we dont get NE male nudity in movies.. you all usually get everything shown. Since butlers ass i hadnt seen male celeb nudity since brad pitts ass in Troy.

Well, as I wrote above, I didn't see the movie, but in such movies nudity is just for the sake of nudity, violence is just for the sake of violence, CGI is for the sake of CGI and so on.

What did you expect from a movie about [quote]: a female reporter [who] wakes up in a morgue to find herself a member of the undead. She vows revenge against the sect that put her there and hunts them down??? In-depth psychological analysis? Complex plot with well-developed characters? The ultimate truth about the meaning of life?

Now, seriously: I like tits-and-a$$es movies as much as blood-and-guts movies, and blood-and-guts-tits-and-a$$es movies are my favorite genre. Yet don't you think that blood-and-guts is less morally acceptable than tits-and-a$$es? Why do some people get so angry at using nudity as a marketing tool in the movie business, they're OK with dead bodies, open skulls, and cut throats?

I feel that showing simulated murder affects viewers, especially young viewers, in a much more negative way, than showing simulated sex.

Maybe if there was more male nudity it would be better accepted since you see males AND females being brutally slaughtered.

Perhaps. I have nothing against male nudity. If girls want to see more naked guys in movies, so be it.
since you see males AND females being brutally slaughtered
Really? Damn, that sucks. I hate violence watching violence against women. Seeing a girl being murdered or even beaten up makes me cringe. It's sick.

Please, don't tell me, that anything bad happens to either Lucy Liu's or Carla Gugino's character. *Sin City spoiler* I read the comic before watching the "Sin City" movie, but still my heart bled, when I saw beautiful Carla getting hurt.

I won't spoil the fun of the movie :D

You won't always know if there's sex or nudity in a movie until you've actually seen it duh-brain.

And my self esteem is fine.

Really? I thought that was IMDB was for. I use it all the time to decide whether or not I should see a movie. I don't always agree, but it's a good guide at least.

Holding the Rise cover in my hand right now (I work at a music/movie store)it shows a blood covered Lucy Liu in essentially a Bikini. It also mentions Sexual Violence in the rating. Now I realize American rating is different, but you don't have to be a genius to figure it out.

Also looking at the movies on our "New Release" wall, out of the 40 movies (I just counted) 1 of them has nudity. It's a German financed film,(there we go with that whole European Nudity thing again) Perfume (yes I know it only just came out here this week) I'm not defending the other poster who insulted your self esteem, I think that kind of thing is just stupid, but I do think nudity has it's place in cinema. I'm naked at least once a day, usually twice. Aren't most people? Presuming they have any idea of cleanliness.

Yes it is stupid when movies have nudity for the sake of nudity, but Vampire mythology has a strong current of eroticism. I've kinda come to expect vampire films to have nudity, and yes, I like naked women in movies, it's not always essential, it's not always needed, but ultimatley, can't the director/producer/studio make whatever movie they want? Yes I'm borrowing Rise tonight to watch it.

Also, women like nude women too, and not men. I'm not talking about gay women either. Just like I can appreciate Brad Pitt's body in Fight Club. My fiance is always pointing out nude scenes in movies, male or female. We have several nude photos on our walls, it's just not that bigger deal.
