They were bi not gay
Seeing how they had sexual relations with other women and loving it.
Their wives and girlfriends were more than just a beard for them.

Most folks you breeders call "gay" are actually bi. It's more a catch-all term.
shareBesser bi als nie. đŹâ
shareDas funktioniert in beide Richtungen.đ€Ł
shareHmmm, I've to think about that one.
Is there a direction "Richtung" to bi? đ€â
It's definitely not a one-way street. âș
Hell if I know. I used a translator.
share"Das funktioniert in beide Richtungen." = That works in both directions.
shareOkay, I'm never sure if these translators convey the actual meaning.
I believe everyone is born bisexual. You choose a direction based upon your life experience. I don't think sexuality is set in stone at birth.
Translators are helpful, but betimes the result is almost the opposite of what you intended to say.
However, I would like to continue our little discussion about sexual orientation, but not with that OP.
Wouldn't you like to start a new OP?...for example:
Can you choose your sexual orientation?
I'm not motivated to host a new OP and need to admit that my OPs rarely were 'successful'. đłâ
Just so you know that since I never had kids, and never will, I am not at all offended by the term of "breeder" to describe us straights.
Actually I agree with it since I am against overpopulating the earth and have concerns for that.
"I never had kids, and never will,"
That's a relief. đâ
The term "breeder" is just political commentary on privilege given to heterosexuals. It's not a slur.
shareThat's a very privileged take. It sounds insulting to me, and I am one of the folks encompassed by the term (the large majority of the human population). Every 'non-breeder' is, as it happens, the offspring of two such individuals.
Who gets to decide what is a slur and what is not ?
We use the term with a bit of sarcasm. Do you know how many times I've been called a second class citizen because I don't reproduce? Heterosexuals often believe they have a sense of entitlement based on the fact they spit out offspring. And these are often people who abuse their children or deadbeat dads who don't support their children by multiple women.
The issue is, does reproduction give you automatic entitlement? Many straight people seem to believe so.
gameboy?
shareThe one and only. Do I know you from elsewhere?
shareI was briefly on the two IMDB boards that came after the official IMDB closed down. I had the same name there. We may have interacted a few times but I remember you using the term breeder.
shareOkay, I remember you. There was a Blade on IMDb Soapbox years ago but I remember I confirmed with you before and you're not her.đ
shareAND?
shareI didn't get the impression that they loved their wives or girlfriends. That to me was one of the key parts of this film. The suffering of those poor women. Because society didn't allow men to be out and homosexual, they had to marry women that they didn't love and those women were stuck with men who didn't desire them. Not allowing these men to be themselves not only fucked 'them' over, it fucked their WIVES over too.
shareThat can go the other way too since there are gold digging wives.
The marriage of Jake's character was more out of convenience with running a tractor business.
There was no love lost between those two.
Yeah, LDRs are tough for straights.
It really made it even harder for those guys!
Oh well.
That was their problem.

Well said, though Iâd argue there was some level of love; not the passionate, canât-live-without type of IN LOVE, but to start a relationship and family leads me think there was something even though these beautiful women werenât these cowboysâ preferred paramours.
That to me was one of the key parts of this film. The suffering of those poor women.

share"Hathaway probably believes she may be inadequate, no longer attractive to him or just doesnât care."
She was very cold and aloof and matter of fact when talking about her husband's death to Ennis on the phone.
She did not seem to be in any grief or sadness about it.
Which makes me think she just didnât care , just as much as he didnât careâŠ.
shareI think you are right about there being measure of love between them. One of my complaints about the English language is the use of only one word for love. The Greeks had many different words for the love you experience for your friends, for yourself, for God, for children, etc. Just living with someone and sharing that much of your life experiences and having children together would create a bond.
There was so much great character study in this, it is frustrating when people who have never watched it or had the slightest clue what this film was trying to communicate, use it as a joke or something to snicker at. I feel so much second hand embarrassment for these people.
I didn't even know that they were up against Crash, I usually don't pay attention to the Oscars because they completely ignore low budget films, which can be amazing because they are often passion projects and quite meaningful.
Cheers!
