What is the prevailing opinion of Hollywood using a kid in action movies?

For me, I don't want to see the Transporters "softer side". Hollywood seems to do this a lot when they have a tough guy in a successful movie. The first movie is about how cool and bad-ass he is and then if there is a sequel they show is "softer side" by adding a kid to the movie. I really hate that.

the kid in the movie did a great job in the movie the transporter 2 was a good action movie as good as the transporter
