Anyone else shocked to learn that this film only costed $32 million to produce? I mean, for an action film of this scale, you'd think it would at least cost $50 million but... apparently not. Anyone how this only costed $32 million?

shareI'm going to guess there was only one significant salary amongst the cast. It's also possible the payment details were relatively low upfront but included a significant percentage of the gross? That would certainly keep the initial costs down.
shareThis really is one of the most baffling threads ever. This film looks awful - so much CGI and it all looked very ropey, and the rest of the action scenes are standard car chases that have been done better in much cheaper action films.
If I was told this cost $10 million I would have no problem believing it. I cannot fathom how anybody could be shocked it *only* cost $32 million. The biggest shock should be that it cost that much!
You guys should learn more about budgets - $32 million is quite cheap for an action movie. And this wasn't loaded with CGI like some movies are now. Yes there are obviously instances of it, but for the most part it's minor stuff meant to fill in the scene - not be the scene itself (if that makes sense).
There's action movies costing up to $250,000,000 now, so the budget for this is paltry in comparison. Statham alone probably costs a few million, so when you consider whatever was left paid for the rest of the movie, it shows they were actually being pretty smart with their money here.
Lemme put it this way: the 2010 comedy 'ted' cost $50,000,000 - $18 million more than this. That should say a lot...

It was loaded with CGI though - very cheap, ropey looking CGI. The helicopter explosion scene looked awful as well as the plane scenes, the Audi detaching the bomb etc. A dreadful looking film, really.
