The Windows!!!

I'm not saying these are the answers (unless they are, to which I totally claim credit for solving this... solvable mystery?) but I did happen to notice the totally common and repeated motif/object/clue/theme: windows! Lol

If it really is Georges's POV looking at the window right before we see the boy with the bloody mouth (which I believe can be strongly proved more for than not) then why did he specifically recall that image? Window.

I don't know about y'all but this movie had me looking everywhere around the whole frame during the long-take scenes: tapes of the house(s), young Mijad taken away, the school, etc. Guess what I kept seeing? Windows.

I hate glass furniture; easy to stain with finger prints and such. Guess what the tables were made of? Glass! Guess what's also made of glass? Windows!

Haha. That last part I just had fun with.

There is just something about them (or glass) that seems very important to notice in the movie: he sees only Pierre leave his house leaving the suspicion or proven fact that his wife is having an affair, and he closes those same windows right before he goes to sleep.

Also, something about that chicken execution and the scene where little Mijad is taken from home seems very suspicious to his memory. They're taken from similar POVs, both involve some type of escape, both are created from lies, and both are thought up by George. I think he's confusing one with the other, trying to remember one event (the execution of the chicken) with an actual event (him being taken away). My reason why I don't believe the chicken execution is totally true is because in the end of that dream young Mijad then comes at young Georges with the axe.

I love the 'hidden history' of France and the similarity with its characters. Such a great movie!
