Suggestions/more like Cache?

Although it has some issues or may not be perfect, I find this movie one of the most interesting and compelling I've seen in years (I first saw it years ago, but it still stands out).

I especially like the way it uses techniques like long takes and composition in depth to add ambiguity and tension. This is a good example of Andre Bazin's "faith in reality," in my opinion.

With that in mind, what do you suggest for similar or equally worthwhile films? Lost Highway seems like an obvious one, since people describe Cache as a remake or homage to Lost Highway.

Not to sound too much like a fan boy, but in my experience, Haneke is alone in the world in what he does, in how he approaches film making. This is especially true for Cache, where his whole technique reached a climax, in my opinion. I am not so much talking about the technical side of it (look at other modern autheurs like Claire Denis or Bruno Dumont if this interests you), but Cache seems to communicate something that isn't actually shown on screen ... it's hidden between the frames ;)

Could simply be that I didn't look closely enough at other films.

I will now end this debate with you.

Audition comes to mind...it's pretty similar in tone and theme.

François Ozon's Dans La Maison immediately comes to mind. There too we have a bookish middle aged man whose life is turned upside down, the theme of spying, surveillance and the manipulation of what the viewer is with a deliberate blurring between 'real' and 'fiction'.
