A Chubbier Juliette Binoche
It appears JB weighs at least 30 pounds more in Caché than she did in The English Patient.
Did the Director ask her to gain weight for this part?
I loved her in TEP, disliked her in Caché.

Haneke was very concerned both times he worked with Binoche that her beauty would work against his film and both times he actively de glamourised her.
Look at some of her other films since Cache and her weight is gone. In Flight of the Red Ballon she is waifish and in Certified Copy she is fuller figured but this time glamourous. In Camille Claudel 1915 she is at her lowest weight and looks emaciated.
Binoche is known for her total dedication to character and that often involves changing her physical appearance
Based on her clothing, I thought Juliette Binoche might have been pregnant (accounting for that weight gain) during filming.
shareWhat does it matter? She's playing a married, middle-aged mom. No mention of Georges's nose (which may be a plot point no one seems to have noticed) or his hilarious baggy sweater. No one says anything about the bug-eyed friend who comforts Anne. Why should it matter what Binoche looks like?

Because her looks is like 90 % of her career?
