The Lake..
What's the importance of that lake? Why did Tessa and the driver go out there, in the middle of nowhere?
Never figured this out.
I forgot to include my signature.....

Wow, you posted this a long time ago and never got a response.
I'm pretty sure the lake was just on the way back from the village they visited during their investigation. It made a good place for the hit men to attack them because of it's remote location, and it seemed like there were lots of rocky areas that would be good to hide behind if one was planning an ambush.
Why were Tessa and her friend going to Lake Turkana? The airplane pilot told Justin "you don't want to go there it's just."
Why would Justin believe for a second that Tessa and her friend were going to Lake Turkana for a romantic tryst? There was nothing there. If Justin was unfamiliar with Lake Turkana - they had computers - and, if he looked up "Lake Turkana Northern Kenya" I'm sure he would see that there was nothing there (besides swamp waters, rocks, and crocodile.
Dr. Lorbeer ends up telling Justin - after the murders of Tessa and her friend at Lake Turkana - that Tessa and her friend came to visit him. Dr. Lorbeer had a copy of Tessa's report - explained to Justin that Tessa had him on tape - and the damage that would happen if this information went public.
Dr. Lorbeer appeared to be attempting to do good work. However, he appeared to be frightened of the large corporations? So much so that Dr. Lorbeer placed the phone call informing Cricket that Tessa and her friend were heading to Lake Turkana? It seemed at this time Dr. Lorbeer knew that all of Tessa's movements were being monitored. Perhaps Dr. Lorbeer was even asked to place the call notifying Cricket that Tessa had come to visit him (Dr. Lorbeer).
When Justin leaves Dr. Lorbeer - Dr. Lorbeer asks Justin "where will I tell them you will be?" Justin replied "he'll know." Justin then asked the airplane pilot to post the letter to Rome (the letter Tessa's first cousin read at Tessa and Justin's church memorial), and, drop him off at Lake Lorbeer telling the pilot "I won't be there for long."
Justin knew that "the people" would come there to murder him.
However, why did Tessa and her friend go to Lake Turkana in the first place? There was nothing there. Did Tessa believe that she was meeting someone with information? Did Tessa and her friend have an airplane take them - and waiting for them at Lake Turkana (as it does not appear to be a place that any person would want to be outdoors). In fact, if someone suggested to Tessa "meet me at Lake Turkana," it would seem both Tessa and Justin would know that such a remote location would be a setup - and, Tessa and her friend would avoid Lake Turkana.
Justin found out the truth about Tessa - and felt guilty that Tessa felt as though she had to be so secretive with him. Why does Justin choose suicide (death by choice knowing that by going to Lake Turkana he will be murdered too)? Tessa left Justin a fortune and instructions to carry on her work.
It seems as though Justin would have done more for Tessa and her memory by resigning from his government position - and, following the instructions that Tessa left in her will: Get out of the garden, take over my work, you have been left with a fortune that will allow you to do these things.
