Dry crying-so irritating

So he's lost his wife and looking through the window of the place where they shared many memories. And he seems to be crying his eyes out. And his face is as dry as can be. Unless he's suffering from a rare disorder where tears cannot be made-shouldn't his face be soaked with hot salty tears? I wouldn't mind betting that he refused any fake tears, saying he can do crying just by acting.
And the director and crew just agreed and let him get on with it?

I have nothing against Fiennes, good actor, nice chap but, I'll bet I'm right.

This is something that has started to irritate me as well lately. Never used to notice it.

I'm glad your brought this up. Nothing aggravates me more about an actor's performance is the inability to really pour on the tears. If you want to be an actor---please learn how to cry on cue. Just a screwed up face does not work. Great Cries: Demi Moore in Ghost. Without those big old tears---omg---that scene MADE the movie. Matthew Mcconaughey in Interstellar watching his daughter. Contrast: Diane Keaton pretending to cry while writing her play about Jack Nicholson in Something's Gotta Give. I was cringing it was so bad. If you can't cry YOU"RE NOT AN ACTOR.

You must be Superman with x - ray vision. The scene is filmed looking back at him from a reasonable distance through the glass doors/windows with his arms up around his face much of the time. I'm not sure how you could decide he was dry-crying. 🐭

Not at all-there is a much closer scene than this-unless you saw a rare cut.
